about Diane Grindol

Pet Sitter on the Peninsula since 2002
Diane has been a full time pet sitter on the Monterey Peninsula since 2002. Her very first pet sitting jobs were caring for neighborhood dogs at ten years old however. Diane's mom used to say she had "Animal Magnetism" - well, that means something else, but animals often do like her and she loves animals.

Diane Grindol's Personal Pets
Diane Grindol lives with several cockatiels and a blue-headed pionus parrot. She has owned an Australian Shepherd and a Briard (a French sheepdog), with whom she competed in obedience.

A Little History

Diane grew up in Rolling Meadows, Illinois, a suburb northwest of Chicago. She was an AFS exchange student in Turkey and spent junior year of college in Nantes, France. She moved to Monterey in 1982 to attend the Monterey Institute of International Studies... and never left. Diane worked for several local companies, the last one a dot.com startup. In 2002 she started pet sitting and it has become her full time occupation.

Diane is a deacon at First Presbyterian Church of Monterey and coordinates the visuals for their Praise worship. She is on the Board of the Friends of the Pacific Grove Library. Diane teaches art (sketching and watercolor) at Pacific Grove Adult School. She loves taking photos of The Peninsula and client pets, as well.

Diane has turned many of her photos into books of haiku poetry: Dogku, Catku, RESKU, and Horseku, for example! They are available as print-on-demand and e-books through Amazon.com.

For The Birds

When Diane moved to Monterey, she acquired a cockatiel as a pet. She started looking up how to care for it. She got a second bird, they had chicks... and life changed. Diane became the pet adviisor for the American Cockatiel Society, then started writing for Bird Talk Magazine (1988-2011), and eventually had several books of bird care published, including "Cockatiels For Dummies(R)."
